Too Hot

It's just too darn hot outside. It sucks the life out of me, really. We were gonna go to the Lavender Days festival/fair in Mona/Santaquin, but I may poop out on that too, purely based on the temperature.

Fun news though, Dad and Gordon are here in town. We'll have to party hard! Gordon is HUGE! I mean, he was big before, but now he works at the Gold's Gym, and it shows. His biceps are almost as big as my mid-thigh.

Today I helped Laura finish some cupcake pops like those found on Bakerella. It was quite a process, but they taste good and they look good. What do you think?

As we were finishing, Brian got home from taking the DAT, and he got a 20! (That's a really good score.) We're happy for you Brian & Laura!

Whoosh. I need a nap. Seriously, it's just that hot!

Summer Stuff

Scott has been amazing at taking care of yard stuff. He now understands a little more about sprinklers. Here he is playing in the mud and fixin' stuff.

Cousin Dinner this Sunday was sure nice! We had a jolly good time seeing Clark and the whole crew. Shaun and Lanette's redecorating job is really fun and springy!

I have been wanting some coasters for a while. I never really saw a point for them until we got our nice table from my Grandma Sorenson. That thing is pretty! It's worth keeping nice. Scott had the idea to use leather, and I had the idea to do nothing more to them then cut them out and stitch around the inside. My sewing machine is so cool. It can do lots of fun stitches. This one was my favorite for round one of the coasters. The thread is leftover from the bridesmaids skirts. It just keeps going and going and going. . .

Holiday

We had a holiday on Friday! It was fabulous.

Smoothies for breakfast and we watched half of the new National Treasure movie before we even changed out of our pjs. So fun to do silly stuff like that in the morning.

After a little bit of working for me, we met on campus for a picnic lunch. We got really lucky and got it for free, too. New Student Orientation was in full swing and they were handing out lunch. I asked my friends who were in charge of the orientation if they had any extras, and I walked away with over 6 boxed lunches. My job sure has some perks!

We were planning to hike the Timp caves, but on the way home to get our shoes, I noticed that we didn't have our insurance proof in our glove box. I did find the registration card, but it was expired. Sooo, we went on a quick detour to the DMV and $140 later, we were off to the caves.

The one thing we forgot was a camera, so just imagine how beautiful it was. And hot, and cold, and hard and way fun to just be together and talk and see stuff we don't usually see.

That night, we finished National Treasure and enjoyed our recently purchased popsicles. (Only a dollar a box for 50 50 bars, fudgecicles, ice cream sandwiches and big sticks!).

What a day! We're done with our bachelor degrees and we are feelin' good.

On Posting

I have a hard time posting if there is no picture. But, in my quest for a picture perfect post, I don't write at all. This is not fair for you or fun for me, so here you go.

We are ALMOST completely done with our bachelors degrees. I have one test, and I'm going to go take that as soon as this post is complete (unless I sucker in and study just a few more minutes). Exciting, yes? YES!

We bought a dresser on craig's list this weekend. It cost us $10. It's cool! Well, it will be cool once we figure out how to paint it and make it look all nice (I'm especially excited to pick out hardware for it—anyone up for a trip to Anthropologie?).

We finished Lost. It's weird to be done with it, cause it's been about as consistent as eating in our lives these past six months.

Speaking of six months, did you know that this coming Sunday, Scott and I will have been married for half a year? Cool, huh! It's for sure the best half-a-year ever! I love being married to such a fantastic guy. (it's actually making me tear up here, so I'll move on :)

We have about 6 weeks left before we move. I have so much schtuff to go through before then. I'm really good at collecting stuff and not as good at getting rid of it. Scott is helping and so is the realization that I have to lug what I won't leave behind.

So, on to my last test of my English degree. Wish me luck!

p.s. Scott finished already. He's so on top of it!

Mmm. . . Cake!

I love cake plates. I love glass. I love this glass (jadeite??) cake stand. It's fabulous!

This afternoon my English class was canceled, so I sat and talked with my friend in the class about her wedding plans. Her colors are green and blue. I wish I could make her get this for her cake! Though the photography and the site are totally tacky, the prices are decent, really. Now if only I needed a cake stand.
The blue one is pretty too!

Football at the Family Reunion

So whilst nancy was gone, I decided to top her fun by going to my family reunion. I can't say that Tuela was more beautiful than Alaska, but I can say that we played a mean game of football, where were began to see the power of Shaun, the ultimate football receiver. We had a great time and the Heatons and I enjoyed a great day at the reunion, at IKEA, at the Olive Garden and swiming.

US Airways Sucks

The Rant:

I was soooo excited to see Scott and be home last night. I got off the plane from Alaska when we landed in Vegas only to find out that the scallywags had canceled my flight to Salt Lake! Thankfully, Scott's cousin James came and picked me up and the Heatons let me stay with them last night. There was no such thing as a direct flight though, so I'm sitting in Phoenix again waiting for part two of the ten hour flight from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City. So silly. And they're so stingy, too. They gave me vouchers for food last night and this morning, but they were $5 each. What can you buy for $5 at the airport? And the Phoenix US Airways wouldn't give me anything for food saying that the "incident" was in Las Vegas. Whelp, if the "incident" involves me waiting for hours in a different airport all day instead of going to school and work, they need to compensate me for that. Jeepers.

Thanks for letting me rant. Here's your prize for reading all that: a picture from this weekend! More to come. The party was fun and SO pretty! Jessi was especially lovely.

Separation Anxiety

I am on my way to Alaska.
Scott is not.
I miss him!

Alaska is the locale of my friend, Jessi's wedding. I'm so excited for her and Trent to get married. Scott and I took their engagement photos, and they are a handsome couple. I'm planning to take lots of photos both of Alaska and the nuptials, so stay connected!

Meanwhile, the Phoenix airport claims to be America's friendliest airport, and I just might agree. They have these volunteers (old friendly guys in purple suit jackets) who are available to answer questions. I approached one of these purple clad fellows to ask about food options in the various gate areas, and he was a hoot! Very friendly and helpful (even though he pretended to peg me as a "heavy drinker"). My favorite part is the free wifi internet! How novel. I'm getting caught up on all sorts of emails and obviously on posting.

Happy Wednesday!
